The Vietnam market continues to be interested in varieties such as Green Anjou, Red Anjou, Bosc and new varieties such as Happi, Concorde pear with high crispness, sweetness, aroma and sizes of interest are 90, 100

Update on the Competition in the Market:

The main markets are Chinese pears, South African pears, Korean pears and a small volumes of Japanese pears.

Political or Economic Issues Impacting Imports, Retail, or Consumer Behavior:

Vietnam's GDP expanded by 7.4% year-on-year in the third quarter, the second highest expansion in the last five years, according to the General Statistics Office. In the first nine months the economy grew 6.82%, higher than the Covid-19 affected years of 2020 and 2021 but lower than 2022. Consumer Price Index, which measures inflation, increased by 3.88%.

Other Brief Comments:

The USA pear market still has many difficulties in maintaining high selling prices when the crop is small. Vietnamese consumers are strict in choosing products, they often eliminate fruits with small defects on the surface of the fruit, causing many difficulties for importers.
