The Pacific shoreline has less of a burden with freight, but nevertheless problems have been noted. Several ships are presenting delays, and that have been increases in freight costs.
Opportunities in Your Market for Specific Varieties, Sizes, and Grades:
Most likely opportunity would be for varieties/grades/sizes that offer lower pricing.
Update on the Competition in the Market:
The presence at the market is basically Argentinean Packham and Green Anjou, both of which are old crop and presenting quality issues.
Political or Economic Issues Impacting Imports, Retail, or Consumer Behavior:
Both countries are facing political challenges, as well as economical and social. Peru is in better shape, but still struggles with lots of political uncertainties. It is worth noting for both countries that their agricultural sector, especially with regard to fresh produce which contributes greatly to their international reputations, has been suffering a lot due to climate challenges.
