USA Pears are presently not available in the fresh fruit markets of the country. The imported pear market in India is dominated by pears from South Africa.

This year due to a short pear crop in the US, no volume has been shipped to India.

Update on the Competition in the Market:

Large volume of South African pears is available in fresh fruit markets of the country. Varieties available are Forelle, Vermont Beauty & Packham's Triumph. Pears from Chile are available in large volume. The variety available is Forelle. Argentinean Packham’s Triumph is available in good volume, whereas Beauty Pear variety is available in limited volume. Illegally imported Shandong pears from China are also available in sufficient volume in the fresh fruit markets of the country.

South African pears are now available in India almost 12 months. Competition for USA Pears is increasing and special efforts will be needed to regain market share.
