Feedback from the Trade on Their Plans and Interest in the USA Pear Season:

There are still no plans for additional USA Pears to be imported at the moment, particularly after the Southern Hemisphere pears arrival to the market. The import of USA Pears has become even more challenging.

Expectations for Any Freight or Logistics Challenges:

Although not affecting any USA Pears shipments, according to the apple importers, recent shipping schedules have been delayed by at least 1-2 weeks. As a result, the promotional activities for imported fruits were forced to reschedule.

Opportunities in Your Market for Specific Varieties, Sizes, and Grades:

Considering consumer habits and the price range preferred by local consumers, Red and Green Anjou (#100-125) are still the two major varieties and specifications that importers look for when purchasing USA Pears.

Update on the Competition in the Market:

The New Zealand pears sold in the retail sector were in pre-packs, and the fruit size was relatively small (approximately #135 or smaller). According to feedback from retailers, while the quality of the fruit was stable, the sales did not quite meet their expectations for this season.

The Agricultural Trade Office provided the opportunity to participate in the Educational Expo in mid-March. While the lack of product did not allow for sampling, PBNW educated event attendees about USA Pears to increase their exposure to the product.
